South Padre Island -- Drawing Our Line In The Sand
Years ago industry chose to tap into oil reserves in the middle of the ocean in order to lessen the cost of the western worlds petroleum based lifestyle. Now one of the "what if's" which surrounded offshore drilling at its onset has come to pass. The oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico has resulted in one of the worst environmental atrocities to date, endangering all forms of marine life and dramatically affecting the livelihoods of people all along the gulf coast. We, citizens of a gulf coast region, must send the message that we are not in favor of putting our ecosystems at risk. We'll come together to draw Our Line in the Sand and demand that President Obama and Congress shift big oil handouts to clean energy investments. No more dirty investments in our communities, clean energy now!
